In this post, I’ll share the three areas we stayed in during our three-week visit and one area we really wanted to stay in but ended up not staying in. I’ll also share our chosen accommodations in each location and my honest thoughts about it. Hopefully, this gives you some ideas for choosing where to stay in London when visiting for the first time.
Why We (Mostly) Prefer Airbnbs to Hotels
The debate is ever-raging: Airbnbs vs hotels? Depending on your camp, you might be staunchly against one of the options, or you might (like us) enjoy a bit of both depending on your travel circumstances. I’ll explain why we’re becoming Airbnb fans and also share some pros and cons to help you decide which option is best for you for each trip you take (no two travel experiences are ever the same — even for the same traveler).
Our Favorite Things to Do in Beautiful Cape Town
Cape Town is called the “Mother City,” which I think is so sweet, but sweetness aside, this city deserves the title because it truly is a melting point of cultures. Step outside, and you’ll hear everyone speaking a different language, from Xhosa to Afrikaans, to French, Russian, and Portuguese — it’s incredible. There’s SO MUCH to do in Cape Town, especially if you love food but also if you love history, art, adventure, or nature.
My 2024 Travel Highlights
Another year of travel has gone by, and while we traveled less this year than we did in 2023 (hello, inflation!), we managed to enjoy some richer travel experiences than the year before. I love doing these reflective posts to think about the past year and also plan for the travel year ahead. It also reminds me of what is possible, even when you have a weak Nigerian passport like we do.

Although my husband and I don’t have kids, we love to go where the kids are; it’s always more fun, so all of these can be done with kids (we saw loads of kids enjoying themselves at all these locations).
